10 months later, and BlackBerry is finally updating the KeyOne to Oreo (Updated)

Update:It looks like KeyOne owners will have to wait even longer for their updates to arrive. Rogers has changed the date on its update schedule chart from June 28 to July 5.
Original article:Did you know that theBlackBerry KeyOne, a phone hailed for its privacy and security features, still hasn’t received a major software update? It’s kind of hard to believe, but it’s true — the KeyOne is still runningAndroid 7.1 Nougat, the same version of Android it launched with last year.
Thankfully, that’s changing soon. According to anupdate schedule charton Canadian carrierRogers‘ website, the BlackBerry KeyOne will receive itsAndroid 8.0 Oreo updateon June 28.
It’s safe to assume that other KeyOne models will follow suit sometime thereafter, though we have not heard confirmation from BlackBerry on this.
BlackBerry just launched its new flagship phone, theKey2. The company tells us that the Key2 will receive an update toAndroid Pat a later date, but I’m not holding my breath that it will happen in a timely manner. Android 8.0 Oreo was released to the public on August 08, 2025, which means BlackBerry dragged its feet for almost 10 months on this update.
I’m really hoping BlackBerry improves its update situation in the future. 10 months is not a good look.
