Hello Android fans! CES 2016 brought us a ton of exciting devices, and here’s the most important news of the week! HUAWEI made a big splash in Vegas, showing the new Mate 8, GX8, and variants of the HUAWEI Watch; HUAWEI’s sub-brand HONOR was also present with the new HONOR 5X. LG launched two new mid-range devices, the K7 and K10. LeTV showed the world’s first Snapdragon 820 device, the Le Max Pro. HTCdemoed a new edition of the Vive VR headset, while BLU launched the metallic vivo 5 at an unbeatable price. In non-CES news, a report emerged about Facebook’s contingency plans in case of a conflict with Google, new Galaxy S7 details leaked out, and Lenovo launched the K4 Note.

This week was all about CES. After the holiday lull, we were thrown head first into the craziness that is CES Las Vegas, and we loved every minute of it.
In the previous years, big mobile phone makers shied away from making important announcements at CES, but this year was a little different, thanks in large part to two Chinese companies – HUAWEI and LeTV. You definitely heard about the first one, as the maker of the current Nexus flagship phone. But judging from its CES announcements, that’s just the beginning. HUAWEI is already ruling China, and it’s going to do its best to win over America as well. The second mobile company that had big announcements at CES this year was LeTV. Its ticket to the spotlight was delivered on stage by Qualcomm’s CEO, when he announced that the LeTV Le Max Pro will be the first device to run on the much-awaited Snapdragon 820 chip. Ourhands-on with the Le Max Proshows that you should definitely keep an eye on LeTV, who vowed to hit the US in the close future.

Besides the tent-pole news from the show, there was a ton of the usual stuff: a bewildering variety of gadgets of all shapes and sizes, from luxurious electric cars to Bluetooth-enabled rubber duckies (yes, really). Virtual reality, wearables, curved TVs, and smart appliances were the most significant trends we’ve spotted on the floors of CES this year.
For the Android Authority team, CES 2016 was the first show where we had our own booth on the floor. It was a great opportunity to make our name known among the tens of thousands of industry visitors and, on Saturday, to get to know some of our fans.
