Digital Wellbeing is now available for Android One devices with Android 9 Pie

July 21, 2025

Announced during the Google I/O 2018 developer conference,Digital Wellbeingwas aPixel-exclusive feature that looks to help Android users monitor their phone and app usage. We say “was” because Digital Wellbeing is available forAndroid Onedevices.

Keep in mind that Digital Wellbeing is still in beta. This could be why the feature does not yet support devices like theOnePlus 6, which runsAndroid 9 Pie. Speaking of which, your Android One device must be on Pie before you can install the app.

Digital Wellbeing Hands-On

These might seem like bothersome steps, but they might be worth it if you want to curtail your smartphone usage. Digital Wellbeing presents a chart that breaks down how long the phone was used that day and which apps were most active. It even shows you how many times you unlock your phone and how many notifications you received for that day.

Digital Wellbeing also includes other helpful tidbits, such as turning the screen into grayscale, Do Not Disturb, and the ability to manage notifications. you may also set timers on apps to make sure you do not use a certain app more than a set amount of time each day.

Digital Wellbeing is not afraid to shame you on your phone usage, but that is what it takes for some people. It is a bit odd that this is a feature that is opt-in instead of opt-out, but at least the choice is there.
