Google Assistant coming to LG ThinQ TVs in Canada, the UK, and more
August 02, 2025
Back in January atCES 2018, LG announced thatThinQ-branded televisionsin the United States would soon getGoogle Assistantintegration, making an already-smart TV even smarter. Now, just ahead of IFA 2018, LG is announcing the same feature will hit seven new markets.
If you own an LG television with the ThinQ branding in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, South Korea, Spain, or the United Kingdom, you’ll see Google Assistant integration “in the coming months.”

Google Assistant on these LG televisions will support the primary languages of those regions, which will be English, French, German, Korean, and Spanish.
With Google Assistant baked in, your television will become a makeshiftsmart display, allowing you to use voice commands to search for weather reports, restaurant reviews, and more. You’ll also be able to perform basic smart speaker functions like turning on your smart lights, setting an alarm, etc.

Users in English-speaking markets like the U.S., U.K., and Australia could already connect their LG ThinQ televisions to theirGoogle Homehardware and then control the television functions using voice commands. Users in certain non-English markets will have this capability as well “by the end of 2018.” This feature will enable you to control your television from another part of the house by talking with your smart speaker or even your phone.
LG will have a booth atIFA 2018that will allow visitors to try out the new Google Assistant features on ThinQ TVs. We’ll do our best to stop by and give it a shot when we arrive in Berlin next week!
