Google Cardboard is no longer available on the Google Store
July 14, 2025
If you were still hoping to get your hands on an official Google Cardboard headset, you’re now a little too late. As spotted byAndroid Police, Google is no longer selling the Cardboard hardware on its official store.
Thelistingnow displays the product as “out of stock” unfortunately. “We are no longer selling Google Cardboard on the Google Store,” it adds, suggesting that the plug has been permanently pulled.

The news doesn’t come as a complete shock. The Cardboard made its debut in 2014 and was a quick and dirty way to enjoy the fledgling world ofvirtual reality. It cost $15 on the Google Store, making it far more accessible than more permanent and pricey solutions at the time.
Cardboard software will survive
While the official hardware might be dead, the Cardboard project’s software legacy lives on. Google is continuing its open-source Cardboard development project it launched back in 2019. You can also still snag third-party Cardboard headsets from other vendors if need be. If you’re particularly crafty, you could probably make your own. And if you just blew the dust off your old headset, there are stillplenty of appsand uses for the hardware.
Do you still use Google Cardboard?
It’s unclear how long Google will continue to support the development of Cardboard apps. The company has been known to cull more successful projects in the past.
If you still own a Cardboard, do you still use it? Let us know in the poll above!
