Google Photos update may address major photo upload annoyance

Google Photosis one of the most important apps in the smartphone world right now, offering free photo backups and an easy way to share snaps. Fortunately, it looks like the latter is going to become even easier with an upcoming update.
As suggested by an APK teardown from9to5Google, Google Photos will let users generate a sharing link or shared album when sharing to apps that only allow one photo to be uploaded at a time. This can be a particularly annoying problem if you’re like us and use workplace messaging app Slack, which doesn’t let you upload multiple snaps in one go. So a link to several photos seems like the more sensible option in this situation.
The teardown also yielded references to an expanded list of file size options when sharing an image. These file options are now: less data, basic quality, high quality, and original quality. So if you’re on a limited mobile data plan or have poor signal strength, these new file quality options might be for you.
Google is also apparently testing a tweaked interface on the app’s Assistant tab. Instead of seeing a row of four or five icons at the top (to create an album, movie, photo book, collage, or animation), Google only shows two buttons to “create new” and “print a book”.
These wouldn’t be the only recent additions to Google Photos, as the service also gainedauto-cropping for documents,Express backups, andLive Albumswithin the last six months. Still, we’re glad to see Google’s continued commitment to the service.
