August 01, 2025
In a surprising move, Google just confirmed theGoogle Pixel 4design months ahead of its expected launch.
After adeluge of leaksrelated to the design of the Pixel 4, it seems Google decided to get ahead of the game and just release a photo of the device. Google paired the photo with a tongue-in-cheek statement of “since there seems to be some interest…”

The design confirmsearlier speculationthat the Google Pixel 4 would come with a new camera setup, eschewing the single-sensor system of previous generations. Instead, the Pixel 4 appears to have two camera lenses as well as a third sensor, which might be the assumed spectral sensor.
The design also confirms no rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for the Pixel 4. There might be an in-display sensor instead.

Google didn’t show the front of the device so we don’t have any idea of what the display might look like or how many sensors are on the front. However, speculation is that there will be many front-facing camera sensors to enablea Face ID-like recognition system.
Google revealing the phone this early (we don’t expect it to launch until October, roughly four months from now) is a very interesting move. It might have made this decision due to the onslaught of leaks related to theGoogle Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XLlast year, which saw early prototypes of the larger device sold on the black market. Google’s strategy now might be to get ahead of the leaks and just be forthright with information.
