Google Pixel 4 face unlock seems super-fast in new leaked video
July 03, 2025
We all know theGoogle Pixel 4series will sport advancedface unlockfunctionality, thanks to Google confirming the feature earlier this year. We’ve also seen videos showing off the setup process, but what about the end-result?
A supposedly leaked promotional video obtained by9to5Googleshows just how fast the phone’s face unlock is. The clip shows a notification arriving on a woman’s Pixel 4, with the woman then reaching for the device to pick it up. It’s at this point that we can see the phone’s screen light up, presumably due to the Soli chip detecting a hand reaching for the device.

Once the Pixel 4 owner actually picks up the smartphone, we see it unlocking in virtually no time flat. Of course, it’s possible that this is all marketing magic and that unlock times will be longer than seen here. But even slightly longer unlock times should still be plenty fast.
The Pixel 4 series doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner though, so Google is placing a lot of faith in its face unlock technology being fast and accurate. In saying so, current 3D face unlock tech is pretty fast and accurate already, so here’s hoping Google’s take only improves matters.
This isn’t the only Pixel 4 leak we’ve seen this week, as we’ve also seenDual Exposure Camera Controls, references to aPixel Neural Core, and aSoli-powered Pokémon demo.
