HTC apparently still makes smartphones, may launch a new one next week
August 06, 2025
HTChasn’t pushed out a major smartphone since the rather divisiveHTC U12 PlusandExodus 1blockchain phone last year. But it looks like the veteran manufacturer has something up its sleeve for next week.
HTC has posted a picture on itsFacebook page(seen in featured image), hyping an event taking place on June 11. Machine translation doesn’t give us any clues regarding the product category, but it’s been a while since we’ve seen an HTCsmartphone.

GSMArenareckons that the Taiwanese manufacturer will launch a mid-range device, dubbed theHTC U19e, at the June 11 event. This phone purportedly appeared on Antutu and Geekbench, and is said to offer aSnapdragon 710chipset and 6GB of RAM. A new mid-range phone is always welcome, but we hope HTClooks toGoogle,Huawei,Realme, andXiaomiwhen it comes to value for money and specs.
What else could be on the cards?
A second possibility is that we’re looking at a follow-up to the U12 Plus. That would likely mean aSnapdragon 855chipset, great photo quality, and the firm’s edge squeezing functionality. However, our own Jimmy Westenberg berated the 2018 model for its lackluster battery life, terrible power/volume buttons, and high price tag in hisHTC U12 Plus review. So hopefully the company tackles these issues if we’re indeed looking at a follow-up.
The final phone-related possibility is that we’re looking at a follow-up to the HTCExodus 1. The companyreportedly confirmedthat a successor was in the works for a 2019 release back in April, but we haven’t heard anything about this device since then.

HTC makes more than just smartphones though, so don’t be surprised if the company has new Vive VR products to show off. What would you like to see from the firm at its June 11 event? Let us know in the comments section!
