HTC will have a Snapdragon 835 flagship later this year

July 17, 2025

HTC announced its high-endU Ultrasmartphone a few weeks ago, which is powered by the Snapdragon 821 chipset, and not the latest Snapdragon 835. But fear not, HTCfans. It looks like the company still has plans to announce a device with Qualcomm’s latest processor this year, just not atMWC 2017.

Chialin Chang, HTC’s president of smartphones and connected devices, recently had an interesting interview withTbreak. Chang said that a Snapdragon 835 powered HTCsmartphone is coming, but we won’t be seeing it in Barcelona next month. What’s more, according to Chang, we won’t seeanySnapdragon 835 smartphones announced in Spain.

If true, this supports previous rumors claiming that theSamsung Galaxy S8, which will probably be released in mid-April, is going to be the first device to feature the Snapdragon 835. We have already reported that the upcomingLG G6 is expected to launch with last year’s Snapdragon 821at MWC because Samsung will apparently get the first production run of the Snapdragon 835.

We assume that the upcoming Snapdragon 835 smartphone the company plans on releasing this year is the HTC11, the successor to theHTC 10. If all the rumors are true, we won’t see it at least until the end of April or possibly even May, but it’s also possible it could launch at an even later date, depending on how quickly Qualcomm’s supply can meet Samsung’s demand.
