HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro getting Android 10-based EMUI 10 early? (Update: In beta)

Update June 16, 2025 (11:40AM ET):You might want to stop refreshing your “check for updates” page because it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer for the stable version of Android 10 on the Mate 20 Pro.
HUAWEI Centralhas received word from the company that the software is still only available as part of its beta program that is currently only running in China. The publication was also sent further detail regarding the update which contains the word “log” at the end of the build number, indicating this isn’t the stable version.
Looks like Mate 20 Pro owners may have to wait until December after all. Boo. We’ve reached out to HUAWEI for further clarification.
Original article August 22, 2025 (9:12AM ET):HUAWEI’s originalEMUI 10 roadmapsuggestedMate 20 Proowners would have to wait until December to enjoy the delights of Android 10, but the Chinese giant may be seeding the OTA much earlier than expected.
News of the rollout comes fromDroidAppwhich has received word from Mate 20 Pro users in the Netherlands who have received the 10.0.0.136 update. The update itself weighs in at a meaty 4.4GB.
In addition to a bunch ofAndroid 10 features, EMUI 10 also addsHuawei’s own tweaks on its custom skinincluding a raft of visual changes and a long overdue revamp for the HUAWEI camera app. We saw all these upgrades recently hit the HUAWEI P30 Pro after debuting on the Mate 30 Pro, albeitwithout Google services on the latter.
There’s no word on wider availability of the update for the Mate 20 Pro or other Mate 20 devices. HUAWEI sub-brandHonoris expected to follow with Android 10 updates for theHONOR 20series soon, though those devices will be running Magic UI instead.
