Kill all the demons in 120fps and 16:9 resolution with Doom, Doom II on Android

August 13, 2025

Although it wasn’t the first of its kind, 1993’s first-person-shooter game Doom pretty much defined the genre. Recently, Bethesda brought usDoom for Android, as well as that game’s excellent sequel. Earlier this week, though, Bethesda issued a massive update to both titles.

Now, Doom and Doom II can play at up to 120 frames-per-second. You’ll obviously need a phone withat least a 120Hz refresh rateto experience that level of smoothness, but even phones with 90Hz refresh rates will now get smoother gameplay.

Additionally, Doom for Android now has a native 16:9 resolution, which will allow for more immersiveness. Combined with the FPS upgrade, Doom and Doom II will look better than ever. If you could travel back in time and tell a kid in 1993 you’d be playing Doom on your pocket computer at this quality, his mind would likely be blown out, just like that Cyberdemon you just ripped apart with a chainsaw.

Finally, both Doom and Doom II are now ready for mods. Using DeHackEd-based add-ons, you can modify the games in many different ways. For example, you can make the monsters (or your weapons) faster, which can either increase or decrease the game’s difficulty.

BothDoomandDoom IIare pretty cheap: just $4.99 each on theGoogle Play Store. That gets you lifetime access to the full versions of the games with no ads or in-app purchases. If you already own either game, you should already have the latest updates with no extra charge.
