Leak: Don’t expect under-display selfie cameras for Galaxy S22 series
August 21, 2025
We’re just past the midway point of 2021 but we’ve already seen a ton of Galaxy S22 rumors and leaks ahead of its supposed 2022 launch date. Now, a frequent tipster has made a few more claims about Samsung’s 2022 flagships.
According to Twitter leakerFrontTron, none of the Galaxy S22 series phones will be equipped with an under-display selfie camera. This corroborates aprevious reportout of Korea. The Twitter tipster also claimed that the devices will be launched in January 2022, which would be in line with theGalaxy S21family.

FrontTron also claims that Samsung will be using a 108MP main camera for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, rubbishing aquestionable reportearlier this week that Samsung’s Ultra flagship will have a 200MP Olympus-branded camera. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a 108MP main camera for the upcoming Ultra model either, as fellow leaker Ice Universe also claimed Samsung will offer an improved 108MP sensor.
This isn’t the only camera-related rumor we heard recently, as FrontTronpreviously allegedthat the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus will be equipped with 50MP main cameras in lieu of 12MP sensors. So it looks like the standard and Plus variants are getting an overdue upgrade in this regard.

Either way, it seems like those hoping for a full-screen Galaxy S22 series phone might be disappointed. Do you think the upcoming phones should have an under-display selfie camera? Let us know via the poll below.
