Marshmallow arrives on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 in Canada

June 24, 2025

It’s a bleak situation for those of us who were wooed to buy aVerizonversion of theMoto X (Gen 2). Ours is a Marshmallow-less existence that sprawls infinitely in the future, a lifetime forever barred from the benefits of Google Now On Tap and Android 6.0’s battery-saving Doze feature. We watch from the sidelines with our Lollipops in our hands as device after device receives a Marshmallow update. Today the devices adding to our growing jealousy are the Canadian versions of theSamsung Galaxy S6 Edge+and theGalaxy Note 5.

Carriers have been teasing this arrival for some time now, but users on Bell and Telus can finally rejoice. It looks like Rogers devices still won’t be getting it until April 27th, but hey, it’s nice to have something to look forward to. Owners of the the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Note 5 are now free to enjoy all the benefits thatAndroid 6.0 Marshmallowhas to offer. This includes the perks mentioned above, but you’ll also enjoy granular permissions capabilities, meaning you can more effectively govern which apps have the ability to access different services on your smartphone. Native fingerprint reader support is also part of the package.

You can expect an Over The Air update to arrive sometime soon, but if you’re impatient, you can always navigate toSettings > About Device > Software Update > Updateand get into the Marshmallowy action as soon as possible. In the meantime, feel free to celebrate in the comments and make those of us stranded on Lollipop feel even worse about our poor life choices.
