Monument Valley is being turned into a movie by Paramount Pictures

Monument Valleyand its sequel offer some of the most breathtaking visuals found in almost any mobile game. While most never looked at the puzzle app as more than a game, Paramount Pictures has decided to turn the series into a family-focused movie.
The makers of Monument Valley, ustwo games, confirmed the news on Twitter shortly afterDeadlineunveiled the collaboration.

Unfortunately, details about the Monument Valley movie are still pretty scarce. What we do know is that Paramount Pictures andAkiva Goldsman’sWeed Road Pictures are producing the film and have selected Patrick Osborne to direct it. You might recognize Osborne from his work in the animated movie industry after working on flicks such asFeast,Big Hero 6, andPearl.
It’s also rumored that this film will use a mixture of live action footage and merge it with CG elements. But as the movie does not have a screenwriter or a screenplay yet, we’re still in the early days of production. As things progress, we should learn more about the Monument Valley movie.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a popular mobile game get turned into a feature film. Back in 2016, Columbia Pictures worked with Rovio Animation to turn the hitAngry Birdsgame into a children’s movie. If the Monument Valley movie turns out to be a success, this could open the door to moremovie adaptations of mobile games.
