Motorola Razr 2 specs leak: A big upgrade, but still not a flagship (Update)
August 19, 2025
Update, June 03, 2025 (8:06AM ET):The Motorola Razr 2 is coming and we heard purported specs back in May (see the original article below). Now, frequent tipster Evan Blass hasposteda spec sheet as well.
The specs mostly line up withXDA‘s earlier leak, so that means 256GB of storage, a 6.2-inch main screen, a 48MP primary camera, and Android 10. Blass also claims that the phone has a dual camera setup and a 20MP secondary camera. It’s unclear if the “secondary camera” refers to the second rear camera (as you’d expect) or the selfie camera, which has previously been pegged at 20MP too.

Otherwise, the leaker adds that the phone has5G(the chipset wasn’t disclosed this time) and isn’twaterproof. The latter wouldn’t be a surprise, as other foldables aren’t water resistant. It’s also interesting to note that this new spec sheet calls it the Motorola Razr 5G rather than Razr 2. I guess we’ll have to wait for more leaks or Motorola’s eventual launch to get the final name.
Original article, June 27, 2025 (2:38AM ET):We previouslyreportedthat Motorola will release a secondfoldable phonesome time around September this year. Now, folks over atXDA Developershave managed to source information about its specs.

Motorola has already confirmed that the upcoming foldable is the second iteration of the2019 Motorola Razr, so a spec upgrade is naturally expected. According toXDA’ssources, it’s a big one.
The revamped clamshell will reportedly get with the times and feature aSnapdragon 7655G chipset. The new Moto Razr is also expected to bring more RAM, storage, and battery capacity. As perXDA’ssources, it’ll come with 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, and a slightly larger 2,845mAh battery.

The camera setup is said to include a 48MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor. While it’s an upgrade over the 16MP main camera on the current Motorola Razr, Samsung’s GM1 sensor is now a generation older. Phones like theXiaomi Redmi Note 9 Proalready use Samsung’s updated 48MP ISOCELL Bright GM2 sensor which was released last year. Motorola has the opportunity to use it as well, but probably isn’t doing so to cut down on costs.
Elsewhere, the front camera on the new Motorola Razr is also rumored to go from a 5MP sensor to a 20MP shooter.
XDAfurther reports that the device will run Android 10 out-of-the box. It’ll also apparently get the same dimensions for both the main and external displays, so expect a 6.2-inch foldable screen and a 2.7-inch outer display.
Motorola Razr 2: Better specs but still not a flagship
While the upgraded specs certainly bode well for the new Motorola Razr, it still seems to be missing flagship appeal. The Galaxy Z Flip is alreadya much better propositionthan the current Motorola Razr. If Samsung releases an updated Z Flip, it could very thwart Moto’s second attempt as well. Then there’s also HUAWEI which isreportedlyworking on a cheaper clamshell foldable. So Motorola clearly has its work cut out for it.
We hope the company makes amends and learns from the mistakes it made with the 2019 Razr. It was a disappointing phone overall with an inflated price, budget specs, and bad build quality. If Motorola addresses all those issues, it could have a decent chance at making a mark on the foldable phones market.
