Nokia 8 Sirocco: Spec sheet breakdown

As well as rekindling some old charm with the4G capable 8110, HMD Global is updating its high-end offering withthe new Nokia 8 Siroccotoo. The Nokia 8 was only announced back in September 2017, but the Sirocco is the company’s effort to build the most premium phone possible.
The most notable change to the spec sheet is the move over to aP-OLED display, from the Nokia 8’s LCD technology. The QHD resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio remains the same, but the Nokia 8 Sirocco moves on up to a slightly larger 5.5-inch P-OLED display.

The dual camera configuration is also slightly different, switching over to the 12 megapixel and 13 megapixel telephoto combination that you’ll find in the new Nokia 7 Plus, rather than the dual 13 megapixel setup of the Nokia 8. Other than that, nothing else major has changed with the internals. There’s still the same Snapdragon 835 mobile platform, 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, the same impressive spatial audio capture as the original 8, and wireless charging capabilities.
The other notable improvements to the Nokia 8 Sirocco come in the form of the refined design. The body is milled from stainless steel and can withstand 450 lbs of pressure. There’s also another first for Nokia here; 3D curved Gorilla Glass on the front and back to protect those subtle curved edges. The handset’s IP rating for water and dust resistance has also been improved over the previous model, up to IP 67 from 54.

While the lack of aQualcomm Snapdragon 845chip-set places the Nokia 8 Sirocco just outside the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S9, the company is clearly keen to find ways to improve its premium hardware, and quickly too.
