Official: LG V30 to sport f/1.6 aperture lens, the largest in any smartphone camera
July 25, 2025
Okay, so we all know by now that the upcomingLG V30will come with one heck of a camera. The V series, after all, has made a name for itself over the past two years for featuring photo and video-recording capabilities that not many other phones can match. NowLGhas given us some more details on the newsmartphone cameraahead of theAugust 31 reveal date.
The LG V30 will feature a rear-facing dual camera sensor with an f/1.6 aperture lens, which is actually the largest aperture in any smartphone to date. For reference, theGalaxy S8andHTC U11come close with their f/1.7 aperture lenses, while theG6comes with an f/1.8, and theGoogle Pixelhas an f/2.0 lens.

LG says its f/1.6 aperture lens will deliver 25 percent more light to the sensor compared to an f/1.8 lens. It’ll also feature (surprise, surprise) laser detection AF, as well as optical and electronic image stabilization.
What’s more, the Crystal Clear Lens will also be able to deliver greater light-collecting capabilities than a plastic lens, as well as more accurate color reproduction. LG says it’ll also be able to cut edge distortion by a third compared to theV20when capturing wide-angle shots. This will no doubt make the V30 a powerhouse in the camera department.

There are a few more details about the LG V30 camera that we were able to revealjust a few days ago. The upcoming flagship will sport new Cine Video and Live Zoom effects, and the camera app will feature new LG Log and Graphy features, which will give the user even more DSLR-like controls than before.
As far as size is concerned, the device’s camera module will be 30 percent smaller in size compared to the V20.
Who’s getting excited? Personally, I can’t wait for it to go on saleat the end of September.
