OnePlus 6 devices in the UK starting to get Android 9 Pie

Certain areas of the worldalready have a OnePlus 6 Android 9 Pie update, including the United States. However, we just received word from OnePlus that theAndroid 9 Pieupdate is rolling out now toOnePlus 6devices in the United Kingdom.
TheOxygenOSversion number of the update is 9.0.01, slightly different than the 9.0 version which launched a few weeks ago. However, the changelogs appear identical so it’s likely there aren’t too many substantial differences between 9.0 and 9.0.01.
The update weighs about 1.5GB.
If you would like to check for the update, unlock your OnePlus 6 and go toSettings > System Updates. Once there, tap the “Check for Updates” button and you should see the update begin to download.
If that doesn’t work for you, you have two options: wait for the rollout to hit you, or manually download and install the update.
Manually downloading and installing the update is fairly simple. First,head to this linkusing your OnePlus 6 and download the software. Go back to System Updates (Settings > SystemUpdates) and tap the gear icon in the top right corner. Choose “Local Upgrade,” find the .ZIP file you downloaded, and then select “Install.”
This is a standard upgrade so your data should be safe. However, it’s always a good idea to perform a backup before making any substantial changes to your phone, just in case.
