July 24, 2025

Update, June 06, 2025 (7:11AM ET):OnePlus revealed plans for a surprise coming on March 3, later giving us “snow” and “5G” as two clues. It also clarified that the surprise wasn’t a smartphone or a commercial product. So what was the big reveal all about, then?

Well, the company has announced “the world’s first 5G-powered interactive snowball fight,” which will see robots flinging snowballs at each other. The firm says that the5Gcapabilities will allow anyone from around the world to control the robots.

OnePlus Mysterious Teaser

The event kicks off on March 9 in Finland and lasts for just over 70 hours, ending on March 12.

Original article, August 25, 2025 (2:43AM ET):OnePlus is slowly nearing the launch of theOnePlus 8 serieswhich is expected to go official in the next few months. In the meantime, the company has planned a surprise announcement for March 3.

OnePlus India has tweeted a mysterious video teasing the upcoming announcement. The cryptic tweet doesn’t reveal much except for the March 3 announcement date. you may view the clip below.

According to another tweet by OnePlus UK, however, we know that whatever the company has planned is neither a phone nor another commercial product. Check out the tweet below.

What is OnePlus planning?

As you may see, there’s a bunch of mechanical stuff going on in the teaser video. If we had to venture a guess, we’d say this has something to do with OnePlus’ partnership with McLaren.

The collaboration between the two brands has already seen the launch of phones like theOnePlus 6T McLaren Editionand theOnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition. We also recently saw the two companies partner up for theOnePlus Concept Onesmartphone with the so-calledinvisible camera setup.

In this instance, the teaser video is reminiscent of the various components of McLaren’s F1 racing cars. OnePlus UK further broke down the video teaser into images which reveal something that looks like a camera lens.

Since OnePlus and McLaren already have a strong relationship, we wouldn’t be surprised if they show off some sort of camera concept tech for McLaren cars.

Then again, a number of people on Twitter think this could be the inside of a watch, a category we haven’t seen OnePlus explore just yet.

Honestly, it’s too difficult to guess what OnePlus has in store. Since it has already ruled out a phone or any other commercial product, this could just be a marketing stunt to further advertise the company’s tie-up with McLaren.
