Google’s telecommunications serviceProject Fijust sweetened the deal for international travelers.Starting today, you can enjoy text and data coverage in 37 more countries than you could yesterday, bringing Project Fi’s total coverage to 170 countries and territories.

The best part about using Project Fi internationally is that there are no changes to your text and data billing. Whether you’re at home in the U.S. or traveling through Morocco, you get unlimited texting, and every GB of data is $10. You don’t have to worry about overages either, becauseBill Protection caps you outat $80 per month, no matter what.
Phone calls, however, will cost you $0.20 per minute outside the U.S. and are not part of the Bill Protection coverage.

Another neat thing that international travelers get with Project Fi is automatic notifications of coverage depending on where you’re traveling. Project Fi scansyour Gmail accountfor travel plans and then notifies you if the country you’re visiting is part of your coverage plan or not. This will be extremely helpful for busy travelers, as they’ll be able to know ahead of time that they can or can’t use their data plan at their next destination.
This feature is automatically turned on for Project Fi customers but can be turned off if you are not into it.
But, as always, the catch to Project Fi is that it only works on a very short list of phones, namelythe entire Pixel line, the Moto X4 andAndroid One Moto X4, theNexus 6, theNexus 6P, and theNexus 5X. If you don’t have one of these phones, you won’t be able to jump on Project Fi without switching.
Luckily, Project Fi is running a deal to celebrate the addition of these new countries: score an $80 bill credit with the purchase of any Project Fi-compatible phonefrom the company’s website.
The list of new countries added to Project Fi’s coverage is below, and you cansee the full list here.
