Redmi Note 7S announced: Global Redmi Note 7 comes to India for under $160

Right after hitting the two million sales milestone in India,Xiaomiis launching yet another phone in the Redmi Note 7 series of phones. Slotting in between the entry levelNote 7and the top-endNote 7 Prois theRedmi Note 7S.
The Redmi Note 7S in India is the same phone as theglobal variantof the Redmi Note 7 and as such strikes a good balance between the photography capabilities of the Pro and the performance of the entry level version.
The highlight feature here is, of course, the48MPprimary camera that is paired with a secondary 5MP shooter for capturing depth information. The global Redmi Note 7 used the 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor instead of a Sony IMX586 sensor as seen on the Note 7 Pro. We suspect that the Samsung sensor is used on the Note 7S, but we’re still waiting for confirmation that this is the case. On the front, users get a 13MP front-facing shooter that also enables face unlock.
Powering the phone is a reasonably beefy Snapdragon 660 processor paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM depending on the variant you choose. Similarly, storage too varies between 32GB and 64GB depending on the variant. Storage can be expanded further but the phone employs a hybrid SIM card solution which means that you will end up losing a second SIM card slot in case you add in a microSD card.
The basic design of the phone retains a lot of commonalities with the rest of the Note series, from the 6.3-inch full HD+ LCD screen to the button placement. Other specs on offer include a 4,000mAh battery,USB-Cconnectivity, 18 watt charging, 3.5mm port, a rear fingerprint scanner, andAndroid PiewithMIUI 10. The phone also retains theIR blasterand P2i coating for water resistance.
The Redmi Note 7S will be available in India from May 23 via the Xiaomi website, participating Mi retailers, and Flipkart. Expect to pay 10,999 rupees (~$158) for the 3GB/32GB model, while the 4GB/64GB variant will set you back 12,999 rupees (~$187).
