Samsung Galaxy A31 announced: All the cameras, all the juice

July 11, 2025

Samsung’s Galaxy A series took the fight toXiaomi,Huawei, and others last year, offering feature-packed phones for the price. We’ve since seen the second generation of devices land in 2020, and the all-new Galaxy A31 is the latest device as part of this wave.

Samsung quietlyannouncedthe Galaxy A31 on its website today, and it looks like a pretty solid mid-range phone. The device is powered by an unnamed octa-core processor (FoneArenareckons it could be the lower mid-rangeHelio P65), 4GB or 6GB of RAM, and 64GB or 128GB of expandable storage. Look at the front and you’ll find a 6.4-inch FHD+ OLED screen, complete with a waterdrop notch.

The Galaxy A31 also packs a 5,000mAh battery, which is definitely on the large side for a 4G phone in 2020. It’s not quite as big as theGalaxy M31‘s 6,000mAh pack, but it should still give you above-average endurance in theory. The only real downside in this regard is that it offers 15W charging, which means you’ll be waiting a while for a full charge.

We’ve seen quad cameras go truly mainstream in 2020, and the Galaxy A31 is all-in on this trend. We’ve got a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide shooter, 5MP macro camera, and 5MP depth sensor. Otherwise, the waterdrop notch contains a 20MP selfie shooter.

The Galaxy A31 also features Samsung Pay,NFC, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a3.5mm port. There’s no word on pricing and availability just yet, but the Galaxy A30 retailed for ~$230 in India at launch. Hopefully the new phone is much improved, as our own Dhruv Bhutani wasn’t impressed with the predecessor at all in hisGalaxy A30 review.
