Somehow, some Pixel owners are getting the July security patch

June 29, 2025

Even though we’re a bit past the halfway point in June, someluckyPixelownerson Reddit (viaDroid Life) reportedly received the July 2019 security patch. Most of the people who reported receiving the update own theGoogle Pixel 3aandPixel 3a XL.

Interestingly, this appears to be a mistake on Google’s part of sending them the internal build for the July 2019 security patch. Coming in at 79.8MB, the update seemingly includes “critical bug fixes.” Not much else is known about the update, though it comes in as build PQ3B.190705.003.

Google’s been known to sometimes accidentally push out internal builds to regular devices. Back in 2016, aNexus 6Powner in 2016received an internal buildofAndroid 7.0 Nougatbefore the update’s official launch.

We won’t know what else the update includes until the lucky few who have it check it out for themselves. For now, all we can do is wait until the July 2019 security patch officially arrives for everyone else sometime during the beginning of July.

We’ll keep a close eye out for the official build. In the meantime, let us know your memories of Google’s dogfood apps in the comments below.
