Sprint to customers: Everything will be wonderful after the T-Mobile merger

August 16, 2025

With the announcement thatT-MobileandSprintofficially plan tomerge their operations, Sprint now has the unenviable task to relay the news to its customers. How does the United States’ fourth-largest carrier plan to do that? With plenty of PR speak and a comforting line or two.

According to documents thatXDA Developersrecently obtained, Sprint gave its employees talking points if a customer asks about the merger. Reportedly, employees are supposed to say things like, “We’re very excited that Sprint and T-Mobile have agreed to merge” and “This is terrific news for customers.”

If asked whether the merger will increase prices or change existing services, employees reportedly reiterate that “nothing changes for now.” That statement is a bit concerning, since it gives employees some wiggle room to provide a different answer if and when the merger wraps up and new plans go into effect.

For the most part, however, we have heard these lines from T-Mobile and Sprint executives. They are meant to give a positive, yet vague, spin on the merger and provide just enough information to keep customers satisfied.

Wedo not know muchabout the merger, such as if it will lead to diminished competition, higher prices, and a speedier 5G rollout. We also do not know how the merger will affect future phones and plans.

Keep in mind that T-Mobile and Sprint executives must wait for regulatory approval before they can pop the champagne. Even if regulators sign off on it, the unpredictable Trump administration could go either way with the merger.

T-Mobile and Sprint are confident they will have the merger completed by the end of June 2019, so only time will tell how the process unfolds.
