T-Mobile strikes again: it wants to give back your smartphone sales tax

‘Tis the season, and no, I’m not talking about some festive holiday sadly; it’s time to file your taxes! Well, if tax season’s got you down, T-Mobile has a special offer for you. Existing and new customers with T-Mobile’s unlimited data can get back 11.2 percent of their smartphone’s price. That’s actually more than the sales tax of your phone (in most cases anyway), and depending on what kind of smartphone you have, you could be getting more than $100!
The magenta network’s “revolution” started quite some time ago, and America’s “Un-carrier” has been introducing all sorts of deals and promotions, which brought some much-needed changes to the US telecommunication world. The Un-carrier recently introducedplans with taxes and monthly fees all included(take note, Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint), and it’s offering $150 for each line you switch to T-Mobile ONE up to 12 lines for a limited time. And it looks like T-Mobile isn’t quite done yet.
This tax season, T-Mobile is giving back more than what you paid in sales tax on your smartphone. For every T-Mobile ONE and Simple Choice Unlimited 4G LTE customers, T-Mobile is offering a prepaid MasterCard with 11.2 percent of your phone’s price. This applies to up to 12 lines, and every single smartphone with one of the aforementioned plans is eligible. T-Mobile explains how this all works:
And they want you to know that if you are in Puerto Rico, it’s actually 11.55 percent. Even better.
I remember the days when T-Mobile’s coverage couldn’t even give me 3G in my area, but within four years or so, there’s LTE, and it’s significantly cheaper and more straightforward than other carriers. While Verizon wants to convince you that you don’t need unlimited data, T-Mobile seems to be heading in the right direction. After all, Verizon: who are you to tell me that I don’t need more than 5GB of data?!
