Update, May 18:And here’s the Galaxy S7 Active in “camo green,” courtesy ofGalaxyClub:
Original post, May 17:Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edgemanaged to improve upon last year’s prominent pair of products in part, by adding protection from water – a feature that 2014’s Galaxy S5 actuallyhad. Still, for some people, mere safeguarding from liquid is not enough as their work situation may involve hazards and damage potential of far greater magnitudes. As a result, the Galaxy S Active line has been more merciful for these individuals.

Inrecent weeks, several leakshave been let loose showing the smartphone thatwill take on this year’s Active moniker, the Galaxy S7 Active. Today, courtesy of Evan Blass (@evleaks) a new color option has been unveiled and it’s a definite departure from the more demure devices that have dotted the days of past purchases:
As mentioned in the Tweet, this is the AT&T variant of the device, model number SM-G891A. The color – gold – is referred to as desert camouflage by Blass, and will probably end up being similar to the name Samsung ultimately brands it with. Here it is as a larger image for reference:

The color choice is, perhaps, anacquiredtaste of sorts. The front ironically looks less like any Galaxy that has come out so far butdoesresemble the actualboxthat the Galaxy S5 came in:

From the back side the S7 Active looks a bit more simple, without the “pattern” that has graced the front face. Curiously however, the back side lacks the elongated ovular shape that appeared at the bottom portion in previous leaks:
As with previous Active variants, Samsung’s trademark capacitive keys have gone missing, instead replaced by large, waterproof physical buttons. The phone is said to have an IP rating of IP68, indicating that it is both dust-proof and water-resistant for up to 30 minutes in up to a meter of water.

The Galaxy S7 Active is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 820 and come with 4GB of RAM. It is seemingly only a matter of time before AT&T finally decides to make the device official. Pricing is expected to be similar to the regularGalaxy S7. In light of the simulated screen image on the press render, June 10th may be pegged for the launch.
