We asked, you told us: Surprise surprise, most of you are running Android 10
July 12, 2025
Depending on which company makes your phone, you might get a new Android updateright after it’s announced, or you might need to wait months on end.
TheAndroid 11 Developer Previewhas been a big topic of conversation this week, with the update now rolling out to Pixel phones. However, even though Google won’t update itsdistribution chartto tell us the exact numbers, we know the majority of users are not even runningAndroid 10, the latest stable version of Android.

Well, notnormalusers, anyway. Last weekwe asked youwhich version of Android you’re running, and the results shouldn’t be all that surprising for an Android-focused website.
What version of Android are you running?
Out of over 1,300 total votes, 62% of voters said they’re running Android 10, while 4% are already running the newAndroid 11 Developer Preview. I wouldn’t expect anything less from people reading an Android website.
Additionally, 23% are running Android 9 Pie, 6% are still on Android 8-8.1 Oreo, and 3% are running Android 7-7.1 Nougat. And then there are the 1% ofAndroid Authorityreaders who are still running Android 6 Marshmallow and Android 4.4 KitKat.
It’s always interesting to see how manyAAreaders are running each version of Android. I don’t have exact numbers, but I can also tell you that if this poll were to include iOS versions, those numbers would rival the Android 10 numbers.
Here’s what you had to say
Here are some of the best comments from last week’s poll explaining why they voted the way that they did:
