Update #1, June 14, 2025:Xiaomihas announced it will show off two smartphones at its July 24 event in Madrid, Spain. The company took to Twitter to deliver the news, complete with a poster showing two devices.

We already know the Mi A2 will be revealed at the event, set to be theMi 6Xwith Android One instead ofMIUI. But a new leak shows we could be getting a Mi A2 Lite as well. Online retailer AliExpress (h/t:TecnoPasionandGSMArena) has jumped the gun and apparentlylistedthe phone in all its glory.

The Mi A2 Lite will offer a Snapdragon 625 chipset (Xiaomi’s favorite chipset), 3GB/4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB of expandable storage, a 4,000mAh battery and a notched 5.84-inch full HD+ display. In the camera department, you’ve got a 12MP+5MP dual camera pairing and a 5MP selfie snapper.

If that all sounds familiar, it’s because the Mi A2 Lite seems like anAndroid Oneversion of theRedmi 6 Pro. Heck, it seems like the Redmi 6 Pro images are being used on the store listing too. The real question is whether Xiaomi will sell both phones in the same market, potentially giving consumers the choice between MIUI and stock Android.

In any event, AliExpress lists the 3GB/32GB model at $190, while the 4GB/64GB variant has a list price of $210. Hopefully, the standard Mi A2 isn’t much more expensive, though we’re expecting it to come with a 12MP+20MP dual camera setup, a Snapdragon 660 chipset, and a host of other upgrades.

Original article, August 14, 2025:Xiaomi has confirmed the successor to the Android One-basedXiaomi Mi A1with atweeton its official Twitter account.

The tweet (embedded below) includes a poster with a picture of the Mi A1 and the slogan “The Next Gen is Coming.” The poster hasAndroid Onebranding and says fans of the Mi A1 will love the upcoming device.

While Xiaomi did not confirm the name of the upcoming device in the tweet, it did include the hashtag #2isbetterthan1. This suggests the device will be called Xiaomi Mi A2, as expected.

Xiaomi gave very little info about the phone itself in the tweet. However, we have already heard plenty of rumors including that it could have aSnapdragon 660 chipset, run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, and have arear dual camerasetup with 20MP and 12MP sensors.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 is a rebranded version of theXiaomi Mi 5Xwith the main difference being that the Mi A1 runs stock Android. It is expected that the Mi A2 will be a rebranded version of theXiaomi Mi 6X. If this is the case, the Mi A2 could also have a six-inch display and USB Type-C port, but no headphone jack.

While the Mi A1 was initially well received, it suffered frombuggy updateswhich eventually led to the companypulling the Oreo 8.1 update. Some of the most liked replies to Xiaomi’s teaser tweet are people complaining about this very issue.
