You can refund your HUAWEI phone if it doesn’t run Google apps in this market

June 03, 2025

There has been plenty of fear-mongering and misinformation surrounding theHUAWEI trade ban. One of the biggest concerns from consumers is whetherGoogleapps and services will run on theircurrent HUAWEI devices.

Now, a group of 30 HUAWEI phone retailers and dealers in the Philippines have reportedly announced that they will offer refunds if HUAWEI devices sold by them can’t run Google or Facebook-owned apps down the road.

HUAWEI toldRevuthat it was a retailer initiative, rather than a promotion by the manufacturer itself. Still, it makes for a rather powerful statement: it assures consumers that their brand newP30 ProorP20 Litewill either work with Google apps, or they can have their money back.

Revuadds that the promotion applies to devices bought from June 15 to August 25, 2025, although one retailer says the promotion ends on August 15. In any event, the fact that the promotion applies to phones bought in July and August is pretty significant too, and it might just help HUAWEI’s sales.

The following devices are reportedly eligible for the so-called “Two Years of Google apps” promotion:

The promo doesn’t seem to apply to devices that are more than two years old though, such as theHUAWEI P10 LiteorP9series. But these phones should theoretically run Google and Facebook-owned apps just fine, and they’re also generally approaching or have reached end-of-life status in terms of updates.
